YUANEN / MATERIAL SELECTION

How to choose a custom bag material

Start with the contents, load, cleaning needs and print design. Compare complete bag constructions, then confirm materials and acceptance tests. No single fabric is the best choice for every project.

Compare the details that change a quotation

Material familyTypical projectFirst specification to confirm
Non-woven tote bagsRetail · Takeaway · ShoppingGSM is fabric mass per square metre, not a tested load rating.
Custom PP woven bagsSupermarket · Shopping · StorageSpecify base fabric GSM separately from the finished laminated weight. Include the film and print coverage in the quotation.
Custom cotton & canvas tote bagsRetail · Events · Corporate giftsSpecify composition and fabric weight with units. Canvas describes a construction, not a guarantee of pure cotton.
Custom RPET non-woven bagsGift packaging · Retail · PromotionsRequest fiber composition and the recycled percentage for each layer, including any lamination.
Custom RPET polyester bagsFoldable shopping · Travel · PromotionsSpecify denier, weave and coating separately; a thread-count label alone is incomplete.
Custom jute tote & gift bagsRetail · Wine packaging · GiftsSpecify jute content, weave openness and whether the interior is laminated.
Custom paper & washable paper bagsRetail · Gift packaging · PouchesDistinguish ordinary kraft paper from a washable composite and confirm coatings or binders.
Custom PVC & TPU bagsCosmetics · Travel · Retail displaySpecify polymer and thickness in millimetres, plus clarity, colour and surface finish.
Zipper insulated bagsFood delivery · Grocery · TakeawayMeasure the usable internal space against your actual food containers or grocery load.

Keep unlike measurements separate

GSM measures mass per square metre. Denier describes yarn linear density; thickness measures distance through a material. None of these is a finished-bag load rating. Specify the handle, seam, closure and test load alongside the fabric.

Check environmental claims by component

A cotton or jute exterior does not identify the lining, coatings or trims. RPET does not establish a certification, and a paper-like appearance does not prove biodegradability. Request the bill of materials, recycled-content evidence where relevant and destination-specific disposal guidance.

Use one brief to compare supplier quotes

Include usable dimensions, material composition, fabric weight, printing, handles, closure, quantity, packing and destination. List required documents and tests separately. Approve a sample and a written specification before production.
