Innovia Introduces Propafilm CHBM for PP-Based Barrier Packaging
On 14 October 2026, Innovia Films announced Propafilm CHBM, an 18 μm metallised BOPP film intended to replace aluminium foil in PP-based laminates. Its claims concern oxygen and moisture protection and support for recyclable PP structures. These are the supplier’s claims, not YUANEN test results.

Treat the proposed layer change as a specification question
Our procurement reading is to request the proposed complete layer construction before comparing quotations. Name the substrate, metallised layer, other films, adhesive and sealing surface separately. A silver appearance is not enough to identify a structure, and a film gauge is not a finished insulated pouch thickness. Ask which revision the supplier is actually offering and keep it attached to the sample request.
Separate film barrier evidence from a delivery requirement
For a barrier comparison, ask the film supplier for measured results, units, temperature and humidity conditions, specimen construction and method. For the finished pouch, separately ask what evidence covers seams and the chosen closure. Do not transfer a film result to a filled package without checking its scope. The announcement alone does not establish a temperature range or holding time for a delivery bag.
Keep the YUANEN pouch enquiry tied to the current sample
YUANEN’s current self-adhesive foil-pouch page is a separate product reference. This news does not mean that YUANEN uses Propafilm CHBM or has approved a material substitution. For that pouch enquiry, send the required usable space, intended contents, closure arrangement and any outer packaging. Confirm the offered construction and the sample to be evaluated; keep film sourcing and the complete transport requirement as distinct questions.
Ask for a defined claim before accepting recycling wording
Our recommendation is to ask what exact finished structure a recycling statement covers, which destination market it addresses and what supporting assessment is available. Record unresolved points instead of copying a component claim onto the whole package. A material-development announcement is a useful lead for supplier questions; it does not itself settle the chosen pack’s collection, processing or performance requirements.
