Request Separate Evidence for Environmental Material Claims

A supplier’s “eco-friendly” description leaves several purchasing questions unanswered. For a composite insulated liner, first identify the exact claimed attribute and the component it covers. Request a separate evidence record for each claim before carrying that wording into a specification, quotation comparison or proposed label.

Define the assembly before asking for a claim

YUANEN’s published foil insulated box liner is a foil-faced insulating liner used inside an outer box. The foam type, thickness and layer arrangement require confirmation. The white foam box shown with it is a display prop outside the liner quotation. A material statement about the liner cannot automatically describe that separate box or the complete shipping pack.

List the proposed layers, joining or adhesive system and any separately supplied closure or accessory. Give each component its supplier reference and version. If only a facing film has documentation, keep the scope at that film until evidence for the assembled liner is available. A silver appearance does not identify every material or its environmental attributes.

Use distinct questions for distinct claims

The FTC’s existing Green Guides summary advises against broad, unqualified environmental-benefit claims. The European Commission explains that bio-based plastics are not necessarily biodegradable or compostable. These references help frame questions; they do not certify this liner, approve marketing wording or announce a new 2026 requirement.

Suggested claim-by-claim enquiry matrix
ClaimScope to identifyEvidence to request
Recycled contentWhich component/version; claimed amount and calculation basisTraceable material documents and basis linked to that component; keep missing fields open
Bio-based originWhich constituent and claimed share, with units and basisSupplier identification and supporting measurement or sourcing evidence for the stated scope
RecyclableNamed component or finished combination; intended destinationBasis for that construction plus confirmation of local collection and acceptance conditions
CompostableExact covered assembly and intended treatment settingApplicable test/certification scope and treatment conditions; verify that it covers the proposed version

Keep the evidence with the proposed version

For every row, record the exact wording, document issuer, identifier, date, covered component, limitations and unresolved points. Where a report or certificate is offered, ask the responsible reviewer to confirm its identity, scope and connection to the proposed material. Do not replace an unanswered field with an assumption or extend a component result to the whole pack.

Identify the destination market and proposed disposal wording. Confirm local acceptance with the relevant authority or treatment operator for the actual combination. Changing a layer, adhesive, closure or outer box may change the evidence question. This record is not a universal disposal instruction or a legal approval of a claim.

Send a bounded enquiry to YUANEN

Provide the liner drawing and material version, separate outer-box details, intended market and completed matrix with open items marked. Confirm which documents and samples can support the requested scope before agreeing the order. Material description, fit and thermal performance remain separate questions; no recycled-content figure, recycling route, compostability or environmental certification is established for this product here.
