Separate Nonwoven Basis Weight, Thickness and Bag Mass
A quotation that lists only “weight” leaves the purchasing comparison unresolved. Ask whether the figure describes the nonwoven outer sheet, a composite layer or the complete bag, then keep its unit and sample reference alongside it.

Define the object before comparing numbers
Gsm means grams per square metre: mass per unit area, not thickness. Millimetres describe thickness. A mass stated in grams or kilograms per bag refers to a defined finished item.
| Entry | Object and unit | Supplier confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Nonwoven basis weight | Identified sheet; gsm or g/m² | Outer sheet or whole composite? Material revision and reporting basis? |
| Thickness | Named layer or assembly; mm | Which layers and measurement conditions? Agreed tolerance? |
| Finished-bag mass | One defined finished bag; g or kg per bag | Include handles, zipper and any accessories? Sample revision and measured result? |
Apply the distinction to the current catering proposal
YUANEN’s published catering-bag proposal has a nonwoven exterior, aluminum foil interior, front opening and short side handles. Those separate materials and sewn components explain why a figure for the outer sheet cannot describe the entire bag. No fixed basis weight, layer thickness or finished-bag mass is established by the cover or material name.
If two quotations use the same gsm, still confirm polymer, construction and the layer included. Equal area mass does not establish equal bag mass, carrying capacity or thermal performance. An area-times-basis-weight calculation for a uniform single sheet is only theoretical material mass; it leaves out the rest of the construction and is not a shipping-weight quotation.
Close the quotation with a matched record
Send YUANEN the bag reference and the comparison table with unresolved fields marked pending. Request the material or sample revision, measured object, method or report reference, tolerance and confirmation status for each figure. Confirm the offered construction and order terms in writing. The pictured swatch is a visual prop, not a measured or included material sample.
